Title in English:
The Development of Jamarat Bridge and Surrounding Area
Abstract in English:
The increasing numbers of pilgrims and their desire to perform the rituals according to the pilgrimage of the Prophet (may peace be upon him) leads to the continuous need to develop the Islamic holy places in the Kingdom.
The stoning of Jamarat with pebbles has been performed by different methods over the years. The latest development is casting the pebbles from two levels since a bridge was constructed in (1975G) which helped in reducing crowding problems. However, the continuing increase in the numbers of pilgrims and other factors such as the intense heat and the desire of pilgrims to leave Mena on the 12th of ZulHija has caused unfortunate accidents near the bridge entrance and before the first Jamra in several years since 1983G. Attempts were made to improve the situation by enlarging the bridge and emergency exits, making awareness campaigns, and grouping pilgrims which helped somewhat.
