Abstract in English:
The study aimed to explore the reality of educational counseling in
the governmental and UNRWA school in Gaza governates, also the most
important problems that face the counselors and its solutions. In order to
answer these questions the researcher put the following questions:.
- What is the reality of educational counseling in these school, and
- What is the role of counselors?
- Are there any differences in the problem- that the counselor facesattributed
to:
§ Gender, educational area, stage and kind of supervision.
§ What are the solutions for these problems according to counselors
point of view.
The researcher used the descriptive and analytical method, and he used
a sample consisted of 269 counselors in the governmental and UNRWA
schools.
The researcher prepared a questionnaire. Consisted of (45) items
covered three domains:
a. Problems that related to the preparation and training.
b. The educational staff and administration.
c. The circumstances of work of the counselors.
The researcher preformed all the psychometric requirements of the
tool, including reliability and validity, are as he used spilt half reliability
and value of Alpha cronbach: (0.92), then he started the statistical analysis
by using SPSS program.
The results show:
1. The items of the questionnaire, and its domains correlates with total
score, it was found that the most problems that faced the counselor is
related to administration issues 92%, the atmosphere and the work’s
circumstances was the second 87% and the third domain was the
training 76%.
2. No significant differences at the level 0.05 in the domain of training
variable attributed to gender but the gender variable was significant
in the domain with regard t administrative issues.
3. No significant difference at the level 0.05 in the administration
problems and work circumstance attributed to educational area, but
it was found that these is significant difference at the level 0.05 in
the counselors training attributed to educational area at the level
0.05.
4. No significant differences at the level 0.05 with regard the
counselors training attributed to the kind of supervision.
5. No significant differences at the level 0.05 in all three domains
attributed to educational stage.
6. There are similarities between the problem domains that face the
counselor in the governmental and UNRWA School, with regard the
problems in the three domains.
Recommendations:
1. To give more attention the counseling programmes in the school,
including more training to the counselors especially in
UNWRA's schools.
2. To fix at least one counselor for each school instead of one for
2/schools, this will give the chance for the counselor for proper
follow-up of the children.
3. Building new counseling programmers as these is need for social
and psychological counseling, under supervision of some
specialists.
4. To exchange experiences between the administration in the
government. And in the UNRWA schools.
5. To empower the role of the counselors in some activities at
school, like school broad coast, wall paper and posters.
6. To establish new association that can take care of counselors
who work in the field in the country.
